Elderly woman booked FIR for ‘pouring acid on puppy, hot water on cows’: Police

A case of suspected animal cruelty was reported in Gurgaon, wherein a woman was accused of pouring acid on a dog and hot water on cows, said police.

The complainant, Suman Mishra, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, who has been working against cases of animal cruelty for the past 30 years, said that around 3 pm on Tuesday she received a call from Bhim Nagar, and the caller informed her that an “elderly woman was mistreating animals”, said police.

“I was told that she (the accused) was pouring acid on a puppy and scalding cows with hot water. I request you to take strict action on this complaint to prevent further cruelty to innocent beings,” she said in the complaint.

Police also said that a medical inspection of the dog was carried out on Wednesday, and an FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code Section 428, and Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at the Gurgaon City police station. “No arrest has been made so far, and an investigation is underway,” said a police officer.
